Selecting Tropical Fish – Tips and Pointers

We have been showing quite a lot of species of fish, each will fall into a given category of temperament. Some are aggressive, others are very peaceful. The problem comes when you mix the two together – some are going to disappear, or become pieces and parts. It is just the way of nature.

This video is not for advanced tropical fish aquarists – Selecting tropical fish – tips and pointers is for those who are in need of some guidance at the very beginning. The best guidance is usually from the people at a local reputable live fish store, one with sales staff who are dedicated to the fish themselves and are willing to provide their expertise to help you succeed.

These are rarely found in a department store setting where the one who catches the fish is simply a warm body staffing a particular part of the store. Finding a reliable and knowledgeable pet store is vital to the longterm success of the beginner’s fish tank. They are the ones who know what is in their tanks, and hopefully how easily they can tolerate the other species you add over time.

Lots of information is provided on choosing the right nutrition for each fish you keep. Another important aspect of the selecting tropical fish – tips and tricks video is the section that is devoted to the discussion on the attitudes and temperaments of the fish that are in the aquarium, There is usually a king of the tank and he/she is the one who keeps the rest of the fish in line.

There can be many types of dominant fish. Some will allow th tank to live in harmony for the entire length of their rule with peace, of whatever sort is possible with the particular mix in the tank. Other tanks go though skirmish after skirmish with a constantly revolving door when the mix is not properly chosen.
